Candace Mitchell is a graduating
Senior Computer Science major, specializing in Media and People, from Lithonia,
GA. Since entering Georgia Tech in 2006, Candace has completed two successful
years of undergraduate research, earning scholarships both years for her
studies in Virtualization to Improve Overall Systems Security and Resource
Sharing and Improvement for Hospital and Medical Practices using Security in
Grid Databases for Federated Systems. She’s also received 2 consecutive internships
with Siemens Industry, Inc. and will be starting her career full-time with
PepsiCo in their Business & Information Solutions group. She currently
serves as President of the Xi Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
and has also been actively involved with the African American Student Union. Candace
is also an entrepreneur and enjoys developing businesses to provide resources that
meet needs in the community. She has started a business with her close friend
and business partner, providing IT services in web designing, online social
network building, and application development. Her biggest dream is to start a
non-profit organization to improve the quality of education in inner city and
public school systems. She also plans to go to cosmetology school and later
open a hair salon and develop a computer program to improve hair care &
maintenance. She passionately looks forward to a thriving career in the
computer science field.
