Melva T. James is a Ph.D. student in Human-Centered Computing at Clemson University.  She is a native of Mississippi, and she is a chemist, by training.  Melva earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Mississippi in 2001, and she earned her Master of Science in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2007.  Melva is excited to contribute to the development and exploitation of computing technologies to advance understanding in the scientific domain.  Her current research interests include information visualization and visual analytics, scientific modeling and simulation, and science education software design.
