Dorianne A. Castillo-Rivera is a Ph.D. candidate in the Chemistry Department at Rice University.  Castillo’s research interests are in synthetic organic chemistry and biosynthetic approaches, for the isolation and characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana’s planttriterpenoids by heterologous expression in yeast.  In 2005, she received her B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico , Rio Piedras Campus, and became a graduate research associate in organic chemistry at Texas A&M University .  In 2007, Castillo became part of the Chemistry Department at Rice University as a graduate research associate for Prof. Seiichi Matsuda. dac4@rice.edu. She was also part of the Graduate Student Chemistry Association, ELA-Rice and Rice Dance Theater Company.
